My mom tells me that I learned to walk holding a golf club. I've been playing golf all my life and it's what I love to do most in the world. I have good golf genes. My dad played golf for the Univ. of TX and was a scratch golfer.
My dad passed away in September 2009 after a long illness, and the next summer I began playing in golf tournaments. Since then I have played in almost 100 junior golf tournaments. In 2011 I won 13 tournaments on my local tour, the WTCJT (West Texas Jr Champions Tour). I have also played some tournaments with the North TX Jr PGA, US Kids Golf, and the TJGT (Texas Jr Golf Tour). I have played in the US Kids Golf World Championship in Pinehurst NC (2009 and 2012). I have also played in the Texas Starburst Jr Golf Classic (2010 and 2011), and the Texas Oklahoma Jr Golf Tournament (TO) in 2012. I am currently a freshman in High School and am consistently the top qualifier for my varsity Golf Team. Most recently I finished 12th overall out of a field of 106 players at the UIL Div 5 Texas Shootout in San Antonio (Cedar Creek Golf Course). I have played up in almost every tours' age division and tournament. In 2011 as an 11 year old I played in the 12-13 division, as a 12 year old, in the 14-15 division, and am currently as a 14 yr old playing in the 16-18 division of the WTJCT and the 15-18 division of the TJGT. Playing up has helped me compete against players who could (up until recently) out-drive me because of my size. Because of this, I have a very good short game, and am an excellent putter. My tournament experience has taught me how important course management is. Playing in West Texas has also given me a lot of experience in playing windy, dry conditions. I love numbers and stats, and keep stats on almost all my tournaments (fairways hit, GIR, putts, etc).
In 2014 I have a full tournament schedule. I am registered to play the 2014 TO Tournament in Wichita Falls, as well as the USKG Texas Open at Horsheshoe Bay, the USKG Teen World Championship in Pinehurst NC. I am looking at registering for 3-5 TJGT/AJGA events as well, and am about to begin my Spring High School Golf Season with Central High School (Div 5A). I will also play a dozen or more tournaments with the WTJCT. I am a member of the Bentwood Country Club and my teaching pro is Jimmy Tidwell. I believe my tournament experience, willingness to work hard and dedicate myself to golf and school, will be a great asset to any college golf program.
In addition to golf I love the game of basketball, and enjoy playing winter ball in the golf off-season. I played as a freshman on the Central High School freshman basketball team, and have played tournament and club basketball for 4 years. I am actively involved with my church and belong to two youth organizations, FUEL (through Paulann Baptist Church in San Angelo) and Young Life, a non-denomination christian youth group.
