I have been around golf from a very young age as my sister played in tournaments throughout her school years and I would watch her from my stroller. My dad is also a pretty good golfer and always wanted me to play, but I chose baseball as my sport when I was young.
After watching my sister excel in collegiate golf and trying golf in middle school, I realized that I had a naturally good swing and could be more in control of my own path at golf than in baseball. I have been playing golf for almost 3 years now, and have mastered distance with an average drive of 300 and many at 370 yards. I am working on my mental game and course management to try to lower my score and I know if I just keep working hard, it will come. I am naturally left handed, but I learned to golf right handed which was definitely interesting at the beginning, but I'm confident it has allowed me to progress faster because my lead hand is the dominant and stronger one.
Being a good athlete in many sports I never thought of golf as difficult, until I tried it and realized how tough it would be to truly master everything needed to be a great player. I know with continuous practice that my scoring is going to continue to improve. I am a straight A student in AP classes and am definitely going to college. I would also really love to play golf at that next level and be the best all around student and golfer that I can possibly be.
