Mitchell O'Brien '21 Recruiting Profile

Hi, My name is Mitchell O'Brien and I am a 15-year-old Minor Midget hockey player from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I have been playing hockey for 5 seasons (since Adam second year) and this past season played division 2 of 12 in my association. This coming season I am trying out for Minor Midget Quadrant teams. Over my many years of competitive sports, I have consecutively improved not only my physique but, my all-around game and mindset. Before I was a hockey player I was a competitive Ski Jumper/ Ski Racer with Team Canada. I've been involved with sports my entire life and I wish to continue into university/college. Going into grade 10/sophomore year as of 2018- 2019 school year, I am enrolled in the Global Sports Academy at Springbank High School. The Global Sports Academy is an elite sports program that is not only focused on greatly improving the athlete in a sports perspective but, that academics should and always will come first. I am currently on track to graduate in the year 2021 from high school and plan on immediately attending university/college. I hope to pursue a Medical/Science degree and career. I have been told I am a natural born leader and willing to do anything for my team. I also work very well with others due to my experience in coaching minor sports teams as both a volunteer and paid position. This is why I feel that I am a good fit for most collegiate teams. I would describe my mindset on the ice would be an aggressive and controlled playmaker. My specialty style on the ice is a Shutdown Defenseman and can be a Quarterback Defenseman or an Enforcer Defenseman however, I am a very adaptable player.
