Samuel Gerbrand '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Sam Gerbrand, I am a 6'5, 200 pound forward from Mission, British Columbia, Canada. I have been playing hockey since the age of 4 and my love for the game has continued to grow every year. Finishing second at the British Columbia U18 Championships last year has been the highlight of my hockey career. Although I feel I grew the most as a student-athlete when I was cut from my U15 AAA team as a 14-year-old. That experience helped me grow as an individual and lead me to concentrate my on-ice and off-ice efforts on becoming a reliable two way forward capable of playing at the next level.

I am fortunate to be an Assistant Captain on the Mission Stars U18 team in the PCAHA U18 A Division and we are determined to finish our season with the Provincial Championship that eluded us last year. Growing up I played many sports at high levels including baseball, lacrosse, volleyball, and basketball and the different elements and skillsets of each sport have helped me become a better hockey player. I’m looking for a program that will challenge me athletically and academically and will help me achieve my goal of becoming a physiotherapist.
