Tom Harrington '19 Recruiting Profile

From the age of 6 I've had a strong for passion for the game of ice hockey. The seemingly perfect blend of brutality and beauty fascinated and continues to fascinate me. Because of this I have made it a life goal of mine to prosper through high school hockey and eventually play college hockey at a high level.

I have been an extremely productive athlete and student through my first few years of high school including having totaled 32 points in my Freshman and Sophomore year on the varsity hockey team at Wakefield Memorial High School and maintaining an above average GPA while taking increasingly difficult courses.

Through my first two years I have been a leader both on and off the ice, as a player I have always felt I pushed my teammates to perform to their best abilities and supported my line-mates through rough spells of play. These qualities have led to me being named a Junior Captain for the varsity hockey team for the 2017-2018 season. Off the ice I feel I have been a solid friend to my peers, lending a helping hand when needed and advice or support in times of need.

I feel my best qualities however to be my determination and effort. I'll be the first to admit that I've never been the most skilled hockey player. But, every time I step out onto the ice, I know I'm the hardest working player out there. If we really need a change, I'm willing to take the hit to dump the puck in. If we need some time in the offensive zone, I'm willing to fly into the zone and forecheck as hard as I can. If we need to prevent a goal, I'm willing to put my body on the line to block the shot. I've always taken pride in the way I've played the game.

I hope to have the opportunity to play hockey and further my education at a great college. I wish to help whatever team I play on excel and I hope to continue my education, leading to career in either media arts or if I'm lucky, hockey.
