Personal Statement
Just playing hockey and baseball in general was the highlight of my high school career because I was really able to figure out who I am as a person. My sophomore year was definitely the most beneficial to me as a person and athlete. I was on a team that didn't win a whole lot of games and that really taught me how to lose, how to handle losing and handle being behind on a score board. I have gone through many struggles throughout my hockey career. I am mostly a self taught goalie, and I must admit I'm pretty good for being self taught. But I have also been cut by several teams, including teams in which I was the only goaltender at the tryout. Being cut by all those teams did nothing but improve my skill by making me work even harder to prove them wrong.
Fortunately, I am now on a team of coaches that have won State Championship four years in a row and having them has greatly improved my talent. Being one of the older players on every team I have been on has really taught me how to be a leader and also made my work ethic and commitment much better to set a good example and influence the underclassmen. With everything that I have gone through thus far in my career, I know that I have what it takes to compete for a spot on a college team and I truly believe I can make a big impact right off the bat for your program.
