My name is Alex Gallant, and I am a 15-year-old forward currently playing for the New Hampshire Avalanche 16U AAA team. I am a strong player who takes pride in doing the little this right. My biggest strengths are making plays and creating opportunity, in the offensive and neutral zone and making the quick turn back the other way on the back check. I try to model my game after Conner McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers, by using my speed, quickness, and hockey sense to make smart plays, block shots, and cycle the puck.
Over the past season and a half, I’ve been fortunate to grow immensely while competing in high-level leagues such as the BHL and this upcoming season I will be playing in the E9 BHL and UT1HL
At 5'7" and 130 lbs, I believe I bring a rare combination of mobility, and hockey IQ for my age. I consistently contribute by playing heavy minutes in all situations. I have worked a lot on my puck-moving abilities and shot on and off the ice, this makes me more of a threat. Personally, I believe that I am a player who sees the ice well, reacts quickly, anticipates passes, and plays with heart and purpose. My academic drive matches my athletic goals, which I find are very important to maintain. I’m dedicated to becoming a student-athlete at the NCAA Division I level, where I can pursue both a high-level education and my dream of playing professional hockey.
Off the ice, I bring the same level of discipline to my academics. I currently attend Sunapee High School in Sunapee, NH, a top public school in the state of New Hampshire, where I’ve maintained career high honor roll and a 3.7 GPA in Grade 9.
What separates me from other recruits is my attention to detail, mental toughness, and also the ability to adjust quickly in high-pressure situations. I’m always striving and pushing to grow, I always try to maximize my effort in every situation, whether that means studying team systems, breaking down individual player tendencies, or watching video and film of elite forwards like Nathan Mackinnon, Macklin Celebrini, and Ryan Lenord. I am working hard off the ice, in the gym to improve my strength, power, speed. I know that playing at the next level requires more than talent, it demands the required education, character, discipline, and an consistent drive to be better.
Looking ahead, I am fully committed to competing at the highest level possible and making an impact both on and off the ice. I’m excited for the opportunity to contribute to a strong collegiate program, to be able to grow as a leader, learn from the best, and help bring success to a team that values commitment, development, and culture.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I would be honored to be part of a collegiate program where I can continue developing into the best version of myself, athletically, academically, and personally. This opportunity would mean the world to me, as it brings me one step closer to achieving both my educational and professional hockey goals.
Sincerely,
Alex Gallant
