I believe that the best thing that ever happened to me as a hockey player was getting cut from a tier one team as a returning goaltender from that same organization. After not being selected the next season for that tier one team, I played a season at the tier two level. That season I learned so much about me as an individual and a hockey player. I developed immensely facing a high amount of shots each game and getting more playing time than ever before. I grew a tremendous amount physically as a player, but I grew even more in the intangible aspects of the game. As the starting goalie I learned how to be a leader, a great teammate, to have a great work-ethic, what sacrifice really was, and I became a better person because of it. This year, I was offered a spot on a AAA team, but declined, choosing to once again play for the same organization I played for last year. Although my team was not successful, I have never grown so much.
I believe that I will continue to grow even more and into a college athlete. I also believe that my character makes me a excellent fit for many college programs. I have dreams of playing the sport I love while getting a good education all at the same time.
