Danny Downey '24 Recruiting Profile

My dream has always been to play college hockey.  I learned to skate when I was 5 years old & haven't stopped since.  My career goal is to study business as I hope to one day become a real estate agent.  

Being on a team means everything to me.  My first coach at the age of 6 used to joke & say, "Danny Downey would give away a kidney for his Team!". I spent my childhood traveling around every weekend from tournament to tournament with my Dad.  He passed away suddenly last year in 2022 & I continue to play & hope I am making him proud.  He was my best coach of all.

My biggest hockey accomplishment was last season (2022-2023) when my Varsity Hockey Team Clarkstown won Sectionals for the first time ever.  We won in double OT against our biggest rival.  

Senior year - All County Honorable Mention, All Section Honorable Mention & All League.

My hockey training has given the ability to play all positions which includes defense, wing & center.

I am a 2-sport athlete.  Hockey is my main focus & I play lacrosse in the spring to stay conditioned.  I am an honor roll student at Clarkstown South.
