I started taking hockey lessons at the Polar Ice House in Wake Forest when I was 4 years old. I instantly wanted to play in a hockey game. When I finally got to play in my first hockey game I knew right then that I wanted to play goalie. Unfortunately, my dad was not supportive of my dreams and would not take me to hockey practices or games on his time. Due to this, I was only able to be there for my teams half of the time and primarily played defense. When the situation was changed in my favor, about three years ago, I jumped at the chance to play goalie. I knew that starting late in goal meant that I had a lot of catching up to do to get to the same level as my peers. But I tackled that challenge with drive and ambition. The mindset that I adopted from my time in the net has made me a better person in all aspects of my life. My family has taken to calling it ‘goalie boy’ mindset. I shake off mistakes and go back at it, working on making myself better and improving and not making the same mistakes again. I have been working with a private coach, Bill Horn and attending multiple skill clinics and camps to improve my skill set as quickly as possible. I want to make my team better any way possible and love any opportunity to be on the ice.
