The coaching staff requested my intent after the first practice - on Sunday they wanted my commitment. The midget Thistles played in the Telus Cup in 2013 but during regular season play in the Manitoba Provincial AAA Midget Hockey League. After much conversations over the next week I decided to play on the Thunder Bay AAA Minor Midget Kings in the Ontario Hockey Federation - having more exposure to OHL and College Scouts and Teams.

After first practice with 1 of the 4 teams divided up at tryouts coaches approach me that they are interested in me and requested my intent. Saturday after first scrimmage the coaching staff called my father and wanted to sign me to the team. I moved from home at age 14, 400 km away, to Thundery Bay to play on the team for the 2012-13 season.
