My portrait is one of a passionate, compassionate, athlete, with strong leadership tendencies and abilities, unsure what academic goals or which area to focus on at this time.
I am a solid athlete, but also a decent academic student. I received the honor role for last year (Grade 9) and for Grade 10. I find Math interesting and fun, so perhaps that is an area I may explore. My passion and desire is to continue to expand my Hockey skills and abilities, with the hope of making a career out of it in some form or fashion.
My passion for hockey began very early in life. As soon as I could walk, I played with mini sticks, slapping away at anything that resembled a ball. My skating began when I was 3 years old and was quickly evolved through power skating sessions beginning at 5 years old. Everything was a race to me, I needed to be the first, the fastest. This came easy for me in Hockey, my speed and drive were second to none in my age group, providing the opportunity to play up with the 06 group (I'm an 07) year after year.
In 2017 my team won the OMHA championship for our age/division, capping the end to a almost perfect season (I think we lost one game).
Shortly after that I transitioned from "small town hockey" to the big time, moving to play in the GTHL (Toronto Ontario) league. I was nervous at first, having been top of my game in the smaller leagues, how would I fair in the big city. Quickly I adapted to the faster level of play and never looked back.
Although so far I have yet to make a AAA team, I show well at all tryouts, and my speed and skill levels are on par with most of those players. There are some super stars that are beyond me, no question, but I hold my own against most AAA players.
The drive to be the fastest I took into Cross Country and Track and Field in Highschool. Although not the fastest, I am considered 2nd or 3rd in my grade at school, and this fall placed 113 out of all of Ontario. I will continue to expand my abilities in this area knowing I can be better.
Outside of Hockey I participated in Scouting from a young age up till 2020 when things were shut down due to the Pandemic. As part of that I was involved in some of the leadership grooming that the program offered, which I also received as part of my swimming with the YMCA.
Further on the Leadership side, last Summer (2021) I worked at a local summer camp as a camp counsellor in training, earning my Counsellor status, and completing my mandatory volunteer hours several times over.
This past year I finished my Bronze Star, Cross and Medallion training, which leads into the Lifeguarding course, which I completed middle of June 2022. I worked this past summer at the YMCA as a Lifeguard, as well as a Swim instructor, teaching the next generation, passing on what I learned. I also worked / volunteered at a summer hockey camp, helping my old Power Skating coach run camp for the next bunch of hopeful hockey stars.
In the winter months when I'm not doing something for Hockey, or working at the Y, I love to Downhill Ski. This is a great escape for me, which I love hanging out with my non hockey friends, swooshing down the hill!
As any teenager, I also play Video Games, a lot. I find it helps keep my reaction time lightning sharp and gives me an opportunity to play with friends.
I look forward to sharing more of my story with you, and hope that we can build a successful team together.
