Matthew Maas '20 Recruiting Profile

I love hockey with a passion.  It has been my goal to play hockey at the NHL level since the first time I stepped on the ice.  Since then I have, and continue to work hard each and every day; on the ice, in the gym, and in the classroom, to reach this goal.  I have had to battle through my fair share of setbacks, and have had to take the success with the disappointment, but that has only helped me learn  and grow as both an athlete and a person.

To me, education is just as, if not more important than hockey.  It has always been important to my family and I that I do well in school and that I balance the workload with the athletics.  It is also extremely important to me, and I would consider it an honour, that I recieve a high level of education while still having the chance to compete in hockey at the highest level possible.

The most important things in my life are my faith in God and my relationship with Him, my parents, my grandparents, and my friends.  They have all helped me to become the person I am today and continue to help and support me in my life and goals.  I be live the most valuable qualities to posess are responsibility, a great work ethic, kindness, trustworthiness, and initiative.  

I am extremely dedicated to reaching my goals both athletically and academically, and I believe that the NCAA is the right next step for me.  I am confident that I can immediately be a leader on any team and have a strong positive influence both on and off the ice.  I am a multi-sport athlete, and I can bring a wealth of leadership experience to a team.  Along with this, I bring a strong desire to succeed while helping my teammates grow at the same time.
