Cole Smith '21 Recruiting Profile

I am a big, strong ,high skill, fast skating defenseman.  I understand how the game of hockey has evolved where speed, agility and skill play a such an important role.  I continue to work on these skills while spending the off season in the weight room.   I am a quiet confident team player who plays the role required by the coaching staff.   I see the ice very well and am a pass first player.  I enjoy running the point on the power play and also carrying the puck to lead the rush from the D-zone.   I feel that my greatest asset is my size and agility.  At 6'2" i can be a physical presence when needed,  but can also skate backwards as fast as most forwards skating towards me.  I rarely get beat on the corner.    

In my minor midget year I  was an A/P player for the Komoka Kings junior B team before the covid pandemic cancelled the playoff season.

In 2019/20, I signed with the Strathroy Rockets junior B team where our season was cut short after 10 exhibition games.  Since then, I have had a number of offers to play Junior A hockey.  I have decided to stay at home another year in London and play for a great coach while continuing to develop my skills.   For 2020/21 , I am very excited  to return to play for Jason Williams and look forward to a great year of development.   

My academic achievements continue to be a high priority as i have maintained an 85 average throughout high school.   I look forward to pursuing a college education in business and/or kinesiology.   I plan to complete my high school courses this year while attending the ASAD Hockey Academy .
