I have always loved the game of hockey and have always aspired to play at the highest level possible.
I did that for 7 season's until that one year I did not make the team. I had two choices 1. Give up or 2. Change a negative into a positive. I chose number 2.
This was the season I played AA and I learned a lot. I learned patience, perseverance and leadership. This is the year everything changed. This was the year I worked harder than any other, I was determined to get back to the highest level I could.
This is also the year I took a big risk and changed positions, I decided to try out as a defenseman for my High School Varsity hockey team and I made it, I was one of 4 freshman that made the team and I had never played a season as a defenseman. This was an exciting time for me and made me think that next hockey season I should tryout as a defenseman, so I did. I made a AAA Minor Midget team, I made my way back by believing in myself.
The skills I have learned over the last few seasons are invaluable both on and off this ice. I learned to not give up and always keep working, to not let things stand in my way. I want to keep playing hockey at the collegiate level, I think I can contribute in a positive way to any hockey program. I look forward to learning more from future coaches and team mates.
