Being born on Dec. 30th always made it a little bit harder for me when I was younger. I didn't get picked for teams because I was smaller. I come from a big family (My sister is 6'1") and so in the last year I finally grew and I will likely end up at 6'5" or 6'6" when I am done.
What makes me different is that I didn't give up when I was younger. I ended up playing on lower level teams due to my size and I kept working no my skating and shooting. I am calm when I play. I do not get too worked up and emotional. I skate incredibly well for someone so tall and I keep working on my skating with the Allard family as my skating coaches (Shawn Allard is skating coach for the Colorado Avalanche). I shoot very well and I am responsible in my own end... but I am an offensive defender at heart. if you watch my videos I like to jump up in the rush or even lead it sometimes.
Another reason I am different is that because I didn't play tier 1 (until now) at the younger age groups, some people don't have me on their radar. I hope they will after this season is over.
My sister is going to Northeastern on a full scholarship and I want to play hockey at the NCAA level as well. I have gotten to see her go through her journey and I am looking forward to mine.
I grew up in a family that values hard-work, manners and going after what you believe in. That helps me be good both on and off the ice.
Lastly, I will be a big player. I work out already and I will likely fill out at 6'6" and 225-235lbs and I don't lose any agility or speed on the ice. I have worked very hard to not be the slow big guy.
I know what it takes to have to fight back and keep going.
Thank you for your time
