I have left the shelter and comfort of my home at the tender age of fourteen to play hockey overseas - in its epitome - in Canada. It was not always easy living far away from home but it has taught me the value of sacrificing something for what you love.
My parents have inculcated within me the worth of hard work, which has been especially useful to me as I have never considered myself as a "talent" of any kind. Ambition is what has been propelling me towards my goals in every aspect of my life. I am willing to work harder than everyone else, in order to achieve my goals. I truly believe that I can achieve whatever I set my mind to.
To me, it was always clear that my academics are the top priority, with my athletics being a close second - but secondary nonetheless. I worked very hard to reach the proficiency in a second language that I now possess. Being in a dormitory for the first two years in Canada has given me a lot of autonomy and sense of responsibility in various aspects of my life, which have made me into the great student-athlete that I have become.
