Personal Statement

I want to play hockey for a Division 1 school while I pursue my degree in Physical Therapy. I'm interested in Physical Therapy because I want to work with athletes. I'm a good student. I'm respectful and a very coachable player. I'm a very versatile player and can play in any situation. Can play any forward position. Also play the point on power plays. Very good at faceoffs and good at blocking shots on the penalty kill. I have good vision of the ice and have the ability to set up plays. I have a good shot and a nose for the net. I am good in the corners and in front of the net and good at deflections. I've been skating since I was 19 months old and playing hockey since I was 3 years old. It's always been my goal to play college hockey and professional hockey and I'm looking forward to seeing how far I can go.

2015 Pittsburgh Vengeance (AAA - U16 NJPHL)
Jacob is an outstanding young man that has great passion for the game. His dedication to the game on and off the ice is a reason any team should want him. He puts in the length to be Made great and why he is a great player. From rushing from high school games to practices I can't remember to many times Jacob was not there. He has a shot that he doesn’t always use because he doesn’t want to be the selfish player. What makes good players great is the ones that can put the team on their back and change the game, Jacob has the hands, the brains, the shot, the work ethic, but he needs to be that selfish player, the Kobe Bryant, the Sidney Crosby that wants the puck late in a game. He was one of the youngest kids on the team this year and I would not have thought that by his play and attitude. He would be an asset to any team/organization that chooses him. One of kids I enjoyed helping this year, easy to talk to, wants to get better, always asking question. He is willing to take it to the next level, I enjoy coaching for 1 reason. Wins and losses are great but I enjoy watching the players grow, not only on the ice but off as well, seeing Jacob grow from the boy he was at the beginning of the season to the young man he was evolving too late. I enjoy helping players to the next level, that’s the thrill I get from coaching, the more kids move on to higher levels the more excited I get as a coach. Jacob has all the abilities to be great, he is a player I can see playing as high as he wants as long as he keeps the 6 inches between his ears in place. Never get down, never give up, never stop working, because a second you stop doing that is the second your buddy next to you is stepping up and taking your spot. I am currently the head coach of the Pittsburgh Vengeance U16 AAA team. I am writing this letter to recommend Jacob McClelland for the 2015 Mid Am camp tryout. Jacob is one of a few 1999 birth year players on my team and he has made a steady impact with his offensive skills as a left handed wing playing either side of the ice. Jacob is currently tied for the team lead in goals and fourth in total points. He has developed significantly this year in his understanding of the defensive game and has emerged as an excellent shot blocker and penalty killer. Jacob has done an outstanding job running one of the point positions on our first powerplay unit which has grown into one of the top powerplays in our league. Jacob has great size and reach, he is an excellent skater and a very coachable player. I highly recommend him for your tryout. As of Jan 12 Jacob has 9 goals 11 asst. for total of 20 points. 2 pim.. He has been playing at a high level of play & has just been picked to play In Canada in the NJPHL All Star tournament in Middle of April. Great Job Jacob. Also Made All Stars. this passed season!!
