Ashton Salen '25 Recruiting Profile

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Ashton Salen and I live in Tremont PA. My goal in life is to become as successful as I can when it comes to the things I love and admire. My goal as a student athlete is to play hockey at the collegiate level and earn a degree that helps me to be a successful person. Academically, I am interested in Broadcasting for sports or sports management.

I started playing hockey when I was 11 years old. I may have started a little later than most of my peers but I make Improvements quickly. I focus on my mistakes more than anything and learn from them. I receive a lot of recognition and acknowledgement from my coaches, teammates, friends, and family, but I know I will never feel satisfied or comfortable with my skills since I can always do better. I'm always looking to improve and I don't let anything get in the way of trying to better myself. It helps that as soon as I started playing hockey, I immediately fell in love with the sport and I always play my heart out every single shift. Throughout the years of competition, I became more committed to the sport and aspire to always play a higher level of competition as I developed.

I have played other sports and have continued to play football and hockey competitively. Hockey has always brought out the best in me, not only as an athlete but also as a person. I recently started playing varsity football to help with strength and conditioning for hockey. I am aspired to make a career out of my love for hockey. I have learned that hard work and dedication is the best recipe for success. With these values instilled in me, I strongly believe I would be a good fit for any team. I always work hard, lead by example and never back down from a challenge. I feel it makes me stronger not only as a player but as a person. On the ice I always try to push myself and my teammates to the best of our abilities to help make the team the best as possible. I always treat my coaches and teammates with respect and try to create a family atmosphere since I feel a close-knit team has the potential to be more successful. 

I am highly committed to making myself better physically and mentally on and off the ice and also in the classroom. This commitment gives me the best advantage in sports and life and to be a well rounded person.
