One of the biggest obstacles I have had to face growing up would have to be moving to different states several times.  The most recent of the moves would be to Texas from Wisconsin my senior year.  What I have done to resolve this obstacle or make it not as bad was to just stay calm and make new friends and I think I have adapted to Texas really well.

I have had to make several new friends and adjustments since moving to Texas, more like adaptations. This relates to real life because in the real world you have to adapt to your work environment and it is not likely that you will have the same job for the rest of your working career.  Making new friends and meeting new people is an essential part of life and is something I am prepared to do again in the near future.

All the moving my family has done has changed me in many ways.  When I lived in Wisconsin I already knew everyone at the school through sports, because of this I did not have to go out of my way to meet new people.  But since I moved I really needed to step out of my comfort level to really try and meet new people and make new friends.  This was also a challenge because of football and hockey are different here than in Wisconsin. Moving down to Texas I did not know what to expect regarding the sports I played. I did not know if I was going to be playing football and hockey or just hockey. I have to admit, football in Texas is a pretty big deal, and I felt that it would be best to just stick with one sport at this point, that being hockey. I tried out for the Junior Brahmas U18AA and made the team as a first line defenseman. I also tried out for the Denton County Spartans Varsity High School team and made first line defenseman on that team as well.  I did not know if I was going to make these teams moving down here as I didn’t have any connections or history with any coaches and or players. I had to earn those spots on both those teams .
