My name is Zachery Ryan Cocuzzo. I am a sixteen-year-old junior and I have been playing lacrosse since I was thirteen. Attending college after I graduate high school is a given for me. What is not a given, however, is the opportunity to play collegiate lacrosse, to be a part of a team unit and to learn and grow from that experience. Since I know playing at the next level will be a privilege, I will continue my hard work toward achieving that desired end.
For a goalkeeper, I have excellent stick skills which helps me to accurately place my throws. My agility with my hands and feet make me as nimble as a cat when I’m between the pipes. At the start of my sophomore season I was named captain of my Varsity team and since then I have been one of the primary leaders for Boulder Creek Lacrosse. Tactical and headstrong, I am the type of player who relishes every opportunity to assert my strengths in order to give my team and me the best chance to be successful.
I am a diligent and hardworking student, but in my freshman and sophomore years I encountered classes that proved to be more difficult than I had previously experienced and this affected my GPA. However, this is not an accurate indication of my abilities as a student and I have worked hard this year to bring my GPA to a level that is more consistent with the type of student I believe I am.
I expect college will introduce me to new friends, new players, and new coaches who will all help me continue toward being the best I can be athletically and academically. I look forward to the exciting new experiences that come with being a college student and college athlete.
