My Name is Phillip Busenius. I am an extremely hard working, passionate, and driven student athlete who has an intense desire to play lacrosse at the collegiate level. My goals are to earn my kinesiology degree while playing competitive lacrosse. I grew up in Kamloops, BC but have made the move to Victoria to attend a lacrosse academy at Royal Bay Secondary. This was one of the toughest decisions I made as I moved away from my family to billet. One of my first coaches and biggest mentor encouraged me to take the leap. In addition to playing at the Junior Varsity level, I have been called up to play at the Senior Varsity level for games as well as a travel tournament to Denver, CO. I play A1 box lacrosse and and lucky enough to compete against the best box lacrosse player in Western Canada. I am also a member of the U16 Team BC Men's field lacrosse team and am competing at the highest level.
I am a successful student, earning a 3.75 GPA in my Sophomore year. These grades are a result of hundreds of hours of hard work as I struggled academically in earlier grades due to learning deficits. I have invested in summer school, and tutoring to set me up for success. In addition, I have diversified in my sports career, playing football, and basketball in addition to my chosen sport of lacrosse. I am a firm believer in multisport athletes and have played at competitive levels wherever possible to strengthen my overall athleticism. I am kind, coachable and work well in teams. I believe in the value of team and work hard to find my role and do it to the best of my ability. I strive to improve on areas that challenge me and look for constructive feedback regularly. I give back to my community in supporting younger athletes and students in the surrounding area with my school. I am also signed up to coach house field lacrosse in the fall.
I am looking for a school that is a great fit both academically and competitive lacrosse. I feel my work ethic, coachability and skill sets would make a great addition to your team!
