My lacrosse career began in 7th grade when my friend first suggested we should try out.  Come the day before tryouts, my mother and I scrambled around town looking for stores selling lacrosse equipment. As we loaded the car up with my new gear my excitement heightened. Come time for tryouts, my stick from Walmart was throwing straight into the ground regardless of a form change; safe to say I was discouraged. I spent the next week regretting my choice rather than embracing the new adventure and opportunity.   It was apparent to everyone that I was not enjoying my time on the field; fortunately,  an older player took me under his wing. He offered me his well- strung backup stick and invited me over to his house to shoot around.  From that small act of kindness and leadership, a love and passion for the game of lacrosse was incepted. I now strive to be like the teammate and friend who helped me. Lacrosse is not only a sport, but also a portal, allowing players to step in and become the person they stay up at night wishing they were.
