I am Miguel Maldonado, I am a high school senior playing lacrosse for my varsity team. I have been playing lacrosse for about 6 years now and I'm looking to expand my knowledge and skill as a player in college. I am highly interested in playing in college because it is a great learning experience and a great way to gain important life skills. I wasn't sure if I wanted to play lacrosse in college, but as the season slowly started, I found that I did not want to let go of such a great game and that I wanted to keep learning. As I got accepted into colleges to study Aeronautical Science, I wanted to do more with the school and participate in an extracurricular activity. I will be joining the Navy ROTC program provided on some campus, but I felt like that wasn't enough. That is when I began to look for opportunities to play in college.
While playing the game of lacrosse I find myself creating plays and helping my teammates create opportunities to score goals. I work well with my teammates helping them when they are confused on a play, and I let myself learn from their knowledge when I don't understand a situation. What I am most excited to play in college, if I get the chance too, is to be able to have that bond with a team. In high school, it is difficult to create a strong bond with your teammates because everyone is competing against each other for either a starting spot or competing for a specific position. I am also eager to learn from a college coach and learn the different types of playing styles in the game of lacrosse.
I really appreciate any opportunity that I can get to become a lacrosse player at the collegiate level.
Thank you,
Miguel Maldonado 2019
