Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Kai Garriock and I am a Canadian Box and Field player.

My coachability, fitness and skill development have contributed to the successes I have seen over the years in both Box and Field lacrosse!

I am truly a lucky guy to have been introduced to this amazing game at a young age.  I have had the opportunity to represent my province at numerous National Championships for field and box lacrosse.  I recently just received the award for Team MVP for my play at the Canadian National Field Championships in September, 2022.  I am the captain, School MVP, leading assist, and goal achiever of my High School field team.  I was also fortunate to have been selected this past year at the age of 16 to play and compete on our Junior B (U21) Manitoba Blizzard Box lacrosse team where we won the Rocky Mountain League, and am looking forward to another great season with the team next year.  This winter I will continue to hon my skills while training and playing on a selected field travel team, an elite Provincial development field program and training with the newly selected Indigenous provincial team that will be competing at North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) in July 2023.  In addition to lacrosse, I am also the starting safety of my High School Varsity football team as well as a centerman on my High School Varsity hockey team.

Having a father that coaches, I have been brought up respecting competitive play and am an extremly coachable athlete.  Being a multi-sport athlete has built a very strong base of attributes and skills that I apply day in/out and not just in sport, some of which are physical conditioning, communication, focus, physicality, situational awareness, and academic/athletic balance.

My dream is to get a great education and play lacrosse while doing so.  My efforts in the classroom are of paramount importance to me!  I understand that one day I’ll be too old to play and it’s what I do in the classroom today that will follow with me through the years.

I am constantly growing as both a student and an athlete.  I look forward to the challenges the next chapter in my life after high school will present and welcome the opportunity to discuss my future with you further.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
