My name is Nicholas Chan and I am a junior boarding student at the Boys' Latin School, MD. I have moved multiple times with my family. I lived in the Hershey, PA area through 3rd grade, then we relocated to the Detroit area for my mom's job. In Detroit I played 3A hockey for Honey Baked Hockey and Victory Honda. In 2020 we relocated to Raleigh and then I moved to Baltimore to attend Boys' Latin. With these moves I have become adaptable and learned about living in multiple regions in the country. In addition being a boarding student I am proving that I can live and attend school away from home.
I am a honors student and 2 sport athlete at BL. It is my goal to play collegiate lacrosse upon graduation. I would like to study business or pre-law in college with the aspiration of going to law school after college. Currently, I have a 3.53 gpa and am taking honors courses.
I feel I am a high character person and a good teammate. I was chosen as an assistant captain of our varsity hockey team this winter, during the season I scored 44 goals and handed out 7 assists in 12 games. I finished the season as the Boys’ Latin single season record holder for goals and total points; in addition I was recognized as a unanimous MIAA all conference performer this season; additionally I received the team MVP and Captain’s award for the season. It was great to be able to get back on the ice this season after losing last winter's school hockey season to covid. I feel playing hockey helps my lacrosse game and that my lacrosse game helps me on the ice.
On the lacrosse field I cause havoc in the midfield and feel that every ground ball is mine. My hockey hands give me an advantage when picking up ground balls. After picking up the ground ball, I become a threat to push and create offensive chances for my team. I have strong stick skills and am comfortable and confident with the ball.
