I attend Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore, Maryland, and consider myself a hard worker. I dedicate myself to setting challenging goals and achieving them. I have never been the smartest or most athletic, but what I lack in talent I make up with dedication. I have learned many lessons about not being discouraged to try to do something just because the task is daunting. I am very proud of getting selected as a member of my High School Varsity Ice Hockey team as a freshman this year. For several weeks, I competed with the best upperclassman at my school. On the last day of tryouts, our coach, called us in one by one when my name was called, I was nervous. Coach told me I made the team primarily because of my hard work and dedication. I try to apply that same work ethic to all I do. In the spring I was disappointed to only make the Fresh/Soph Lacrosse Team, but again worked very hard and ended up earning a starting spot and getting a lot of playing time that I might not have on the JV Team competing with Soph and Juniors.
I try to do as many different activities as I can including serving on my school’s student counsel and as a member of the US Navy Sea Cadet Corps for the Fort McHenry Division. My favorite subject in school is Algebra. I would like to attend a military academy and study aerospace engineering. After College, I would like to design and fix helicopters. I have attended several Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) camps including both the West Point, US Air Force, and US Naval Academy STEM Camps, and the Army’s Gains in the Education of Math and Science Camp. STEM has taught me you need both commitment and dedication to the task at hand and if you work hard and challenge yourself you can do anything.
