Derrick Antwi '24 Recruiting Profile

 Only two years have passed since I started playing lacrosse, but I cannot imagine my world and life without it. This sport has transformed my life. My health has improved, and I have become more driven than ever. Each day I strive to get 1% better than the day before. Lacrosse has become my life. In falling in love with this sport, I noticed a lack of African players. There are not many people who look like me playing at a high level. I want to change that. I want to represent my country and make my family proud. 

I have excellent stick skills. I am a lefty but have been working on getting more comfortable with both hands. I have quick feet and love to set my teammate up. I have great off-ball movement, and I am a team player. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while encouraging my teammates. I am a highly coachable player who strives to be one of most hardworking players and recruits you will find. I love to get better at the sport. 

In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a 4.09 GPA. Aside from volunteering at my church, I'm also a member of YAP, which promotes educational equality in schools in Maryland. 

It is important to me to attend a college where I can excel academically and athletically. I am open to all possibilities and want to find the right college match at the highest level of competition. It is my goal to become an excellent role model for all of my peers and to make my parents proud. And I will work hard to achieve this goal. I have learned that nothing comes easily and everything must be earned. I am ready to work and earn my spot.
