My name is Colin Mix and I am 17 years old. I am a two sport athlete, hockey and lacrosse and have been a dedicated athlete most of my life. Sports have taught me to have a strong work ethic, leadership skills, how to function as a team member and to trust others. I am in search of a college program that can offer a great education and allow me to play the sport I love. I have pushed myself with no formal training as a goalie. I researched drills on YouTube and had my dad and brother work with me to improve my game. With hard work and dedication, I have been the starting varsity goalie since my sophomore year and am being coached by a former Oswego Goalie now and made the Blaze Travel Lacrosse team. I don't give up. I have been a captain on my hockey teams for the last 5 years and was a starter on the varsity hockey team as a freshman. I work at the local sports complex which allows me to use the gym and sport facilities. I always make sure I give back to the sports and community that have given me so much. I volunteer with the community lacrosse youth teams during the week and volunteer with the learn to skate program at the local sports center.
I feel that I would be an asset to a program because I will work hard to meet and exceed your expectations. I am not afraid to make mistakes because I learn from them and I am a great listener. Every coach that has ever had me as a player calls me "coachable". In the classroom, I participate, ask questions and am eager to learn. I will give 100% to my education and my team.
