I come from an inaugural lacrosse program at Port Jefferson High School. My friends and I showed interest in lacrosse in middle school so we raised funds and worked hard to get a lacrosse program off the ground. Since we didn't have an established program, we built it ourselves. This year, my junior year, was our first Varsity year! I am one of the founders of the team with much experience, because I played year round on travel teams. On JV lacrosse since the begining of our program, I played midfield and attack for the past 3 years. During middle school and high school, I was a member of LI Stampede, Team Long Island, NXT, and currently since September 2014, LI Empire Lacrosse. I'm the kind of player coach can put in any position to get the job done, though I primarily play midfield and attack, and have been the leading offensive player on my team for the past three years with most accumulated goals. One point I pride myself on is my lacrosse IQ. Daily, part of school ball practice consists of teaching our less experienced players the ins and outs of lacrosse so that we can work together better as a team. Also, coach tells the other team mates to be mindful of the "MARCO" ball. I plan on attending as many showcases as possible in order to gain the opportunity to play competitive lacrosse in college.
I hope to matriculate at a selective college where I can play lacrosse while gaining a solid education with a business concentration. I hope to complete an internship in a business related field, but my priority second to academics is lacrosse. Throughout my school career, I battled a learning disability, which challenged me from early elementary school. I have put a lot of time and effort into overcoming this disability. As a student with an IEP, I managed to become an honor roll student in high school, this year joining the National Honor Society. Even with a learning disability, I am positive that the coping techniques and learning strategies I've mastered, that I will be able to be successful in my academic career, and continue to balance school and lacrosse as I've been. No matter what it is that I'm doing, I put all my effort forward -- Lacrosse is no exception.
