My love of lacrosse began when I was in middle school. In the area that we lived during my middle school years, lacrosse was not a well known sport. There were a few teams here and there, but no school teams. As a result, one of my friend's dad formed a league and convinced some of the schools to start a team, so my friend convinced me to try lacrosse out. I agreed to play lacrosse because I needed a spring sport to help me stay in shape during the football off-season. Unfortunately, we moved shortly after that, but on the bright side, we moved to an area where lacrosse is popular.
During my freshman football season, I broke my hand, was in a cast for six weeks, and missed the rest of the season. Three weeks after I got my cast removed, I was playing in a winter lacrosse league and I broke my hand for the second time (in the same place), but luckily, I was able to play during the school season. After experiencing two broken hands and two surgeries, I decided not to continue playing football, even though I had played for nine years, because there is no hand protection and I did not want to risk another broken hand. Doing so has allowed me to focus on lacrosse year round and play in a summer and winter lacrosse league and work on my strength in the fall.
Other than playing lacrosse, my hopes for the future include going to med school and becoming an anesthesiologist or orthopedic surgeon. I would like to graduate high school with at least a 4.0 GPA and I would like to major in biology or a premed program.
