Kaelen Santana La...Growing up, I’ve tried several sports, soccer, basketball, football, and also a year of water polo. It wasn’t until my 7th grade year, a friend suggested spring lacrosse. I was given some equipment, tried it out for the first time not knowing what to expect, now there’s no looking back. I’ve found my passion in lacrosse. Not only was this a fast-paced game, I’ve also found a great place on a team with the camaraderie of teammates that will last a lifetime.
At the start of my freshman year, I played on the JV team, from then on, I knew where I wanted to be, I wanted to earn my spot on the Varsity roster. I’d dedicated much of my time, during and in the off season improving my skills through club lacrosse, positional training, box lacrosse, and off season conditioning. When spring season rolled around, I earned a spot as a starting attack on the Varsity team.
During the spring lacrosse season, I volunteer with the Tualatin Youth lacrosse program, a great way to give back to the upcoming lacrosse community. This summer I also had the opportunity to volunteer with the Aloha youth lacrosse program in my birth state of Hawaii, a great way to help grow a great sport. In the Spring and Summer season work as a certified Oregon youth lacrosse referee, as a referee it’s helped me get a different perspective of the game I love.
