Hello, my name is Ian MacKay and I am a part of the 2019 class of Wausau West High School in Wausau, Wisconsin. I play lacrosse for both my local high school team, Wausau Wolfpack, and my club travel team, Team Sconnie. Between these two teams, I participate in lacrosse year round. In addition, I am a part of my schools weightlifting program, which has greatly improved my strength and agility. When I'm not lifting or playing sports, I'm working hard to learn and improve academically. I'd love to continue my lacrosse career at the collegiate level for an academically strong school with a competitive and fun lacrosse team.
My journey through the world of lacrosse has been amazing. Ever since I began playing in fifth grade, I have loved this game. Then, in seventh grade, I decided to join Team Sconnie and played in my first Summer lacrosse tournament. This experience opened my eyes to a whole new area of lacrosse and strengthened my life-long love for the game. Even now, I and the same core group of players still compete on Team Sconnie. Over the years, the experiences and memories that I have built with my team have shown me how important team work and togetherness are to success.
Personally, I believe in consistency and hard work. I always do my best to not only practice, but to also practice the right way. Over the years, this has resulted in strong fundamentals in both my right and left hands that are integral to my play style. In addition, many of my coaches have commented on my positive and driven attitude, which I believe is necessary for constant improvement and the fostering of my fellow teammates. Together, these traits and beliefs have made me into a well-rounded player that will always give his all to the amazing game of lacrosse.
