Ian Patton '23 Recruiting Profile

Hey, I'm Ian! I first joined my rowing team in January 2022, and I've absolutely loved it ever since. My family grew up on the coast, and both my maternal and paternal grandfathers served in the navy during WWII. They both enjoyed boats and fishing, and taught me to love being out on the open water. It's only natural I found joy rowing out near the Channel Islands, so I've been driving an hour out to CIRC boathouse 5 times a week for team practice and conditioning. I was on the Junior tennis team at my high school for my freshman and sophomore years, and while I developed my skills and became a better tennis player, I found that rowing has brought much more drive, focus and regiment to my life. I'm interested in rowing competitively, and I work hard at pushing my own limits. I have a passion for creative writing and film, as storytelling has always been a strong-suit of mine. I would love to work in film, video games, roleplaying games, or anywhere I can express myself as a creator of story and visuals. I hope to pursue my aspirations along with rowing throughout my college experience.
