I have committed to Bates college
I had always had a challenge in my youth with competitive sports. My father enrolled me in baseball, basketball, soccer and all the classic team sports but they never worked for me. In the summer before 6th grade when I moved to Florida, I tried out a rowing camp since most of my family had rowed at the college level and even at the national level. After rowing with the program, I fell in love with the sport and felt like I finally had found a place for myself in the athletic community. In middle school I mostly ran cross country and track during the year along with rowing and in high school I fully transferred to rowing. I rowed at various camps and clubs as well as at my school and continued over the summer and breaks. I helped influenced many people in highschool to join the sport and by now I consider our team a small family where everyone is completely connected. Even if I would be unable to row for a college, I would still like to pursue the sport and continue it throughout and build relationships. I love the community and appreciate the sport and would love the opportunity to represent a college on the water in the future.
