As a novice rower I have attacked the challenges I’ve faced with both my competitive spirit and unwavering commitment. Along with great coaching these traits have allowed me to progress rapidly in speed on both the erg and the water. I have enjoyed every part of learning how to row from the day I started when I flipped multiple times in the single to the intense and challenging training my coach throws at me to this day. I have adapted immensely over the course of the past 10 months both mentally and physically which has allowed me to compete at high levels and place well in these races (placing fourth at the FSRA Sculling Championship in the men’s junior heavyweight double, and 6th at CSSRA in a men’s senior heavyweight single). As a competitive person I thrive when the people around me are better than me and I am certain that my speed will continue to increase and my times continue to decrease while I am able to pursue my passion for math and chemistry at your university.
