Eights rowing 9/1...I'm not a person of many words. However, when people do talk to me, I take what they have to say to heart. I ensure I fully commit myself everyday at practice to train to be the best that I can be and work with others to help create a better team, no matter their skill level. I do not quit workouts as even if a workout is not going the way I want it to, there is always an opportunity to find something new about yourself that you've never thought you would have. I pursue rowing because it is not only a sport of grit, it is also a sport of patience and diligence. It may be hard sometimes to erg in a boathouse that is sometimes a glorified Floridian sauna, but my teammates and coaches more than make up for the adversity. Erging in the A/C is nice, but there is something endearing that I find with having such a great team surround me with support.
This also applies to my academics as I do not gloss over small details within the subjects that I take. When there is a challenge within each subject, I take it head on, even if I may not always be right. I pursue an IB curriculum because it supports such thinking as opposed to traditional AP courses. I plan to row in a divisional college in the future to help pursue both my athletic and academic goals of pursuing mechanical engineering and making the fastest team possible. I feel not only would I be able to get the resources I need to become stronger in both areas, but I will have the support to pursue my passions for each area. I hope to have a great season this year at OARS and make memories that will last forever.
