After playing baseball and hockey for many years, last summer I discovered rowing at the suggestion of a friend of the family who noticed how tall and lightweight I was. After two weeks of camp I was hooked - I rowed this past fall, trained all winter, and am now loving every minute of the spring season.
I'm the first guy at practice every day - even the early morning ones. And every off day I'm working toward the next competition: on my speed, strength, stroke and homework; because I know athletics and academics are equally important.
I love this sport. I've met so many amazing people already because of rowing. This summer I'm honored to be representing the Midwest/Central Region at US Rowing's U18 Olympic Development Camp. I've learned something new from every coach and every other rower I've ever met, and I look forward to speaking with you about bringing my love of rowing and my academic focus to your university.
People say I never stop smiling no matter how hard I'm working . . . but why would I?
