Zachary Hyde '26 Recruiting Profile

My rowing began at the age of 13 at Sydney Grammar School. As a Year 10 student I ranked 3rd in the Boatshed on my erg score and was selected in the Opens 1st VIII crew with boys 2 years older. To my knowledge this was a first in the history of Sydney Grammar School. While rowing at UTS Haberfield Rowing Club, I was coached by the highly regarded Tim McLaren and Matthias and Judith Ungemach. In order to pursue my rowing ambitions I transferred schools to Saint Ignatius College Riverview with the help of Dan Noonan, Head of the Boatshed. I am skilled in sculling and sweep (bisweptual). It has been my goal to join a strong US College Rowing Program and compete against the best in rowing with a view to making the Olympic team. My academic performance has been strong throughout my high school years gaining entry to Sydney Grammar School, a selective academic school ranked in the top 5 schools in the State.
