My name is Jake Roux and I live in Lincolnville, Maine. I started rowing in my freshman year of high school. A senior on my swim team recruited me to join him on his crew team. He now rows for Wesleyan University and continues to mentor me.
I quickly fell in love with rowing and decided to leave my other sports to pursue year-round training. Maine has a short on-the-water season compared to other places, so I erg and strength train year-round before and after school.
I am a member of the Megunticook Rowing Club, a volunteer organization with limited coaching resources. To supplement my coaching, I follow successful rowers, attend summer rowing camps like Harvard Charles River Camp Summer 2025, and ask a lot of questions via social media. We struggle to fill a full team at my club, and my doubles partner has graduated, so I'm now focusing on training as a single rower. I have even purchased a single for myself instead of buying a car. I train with Master Rowers so I can develop my sweeping and sculling skills.
This year I qualified for the National Semi-Finals at the Northeast Youth Championship with my doubles partner. I took first place in the Maine State Finals in doubles with my partner who was a senior.
I am set to graduate from high school in June 2026 and am deeply committed to rowing in college, with the goal of continuing to row competitively after college. I am seeking an opportunity to row for a team that is competitive on the water. I am looking for the right fit - a team that is winning-oriented and has a coaching staff willing to invest time in helping me reach my true potential. I am interested in studying Political Science and Developmental Economics at a prestigious school to prepare myself for making an impact on the world after graduation.
