John Smith '23 Recruiting Profile

I have been rowing year-round for the past six years, four of which have been with Greater Lawrence Rowing where I was a Captain of the Men's Varsity squad.  I am presently on the Men’s Competitive Varsity squad with Community Rowing, Inc where I am at excited to finish out my high school rowing career with a nationally competitive club.  It is my strong desire to attend college where I can pursue my academic goals while continuing with my passion for competitive rowing. I am grateful to my Mom for introducing me to rowing and supporting me the whole way through.  My U17 1V4+ boat qualified for Youth Nationals in June of 2021 where we placed first in the C finals and earned the prestige of 13th in the country. It was a feeling of excitement and accomplishment I will never forget! As a part of the 1V8+ boat that qualified for the 2021 Head of the Charles Regatta I experienced all that the HOCR has to offer.  Rowing is a true passion that I plan to pursue through college and beyond.
