Sean Cook '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sean Cook, and I am a dedicated and enthusiastic 16 year old rising senior and rower in the class of 2026 from Bedford High School in Bedford New Hampshire. I have been elected captain of my team showing my peers trust in my leadership and ability to lead our team to success. My first season of rowing in the spring of 2023, I had risen to my school's 2V boat, alongside my older peers at Bedford Crew. And I have strived to continue my advancements, constantly improving my split times and physical fitness. Throughout these seasons I honed my skills, not just as a rower, but as a teammate and team player, always ready and willing to go above and beyond the call of duty and to accept challenges head-on. I have risen to my position as 6 seat of the 1V boat for the entirety of this Fall season. Furthermore,  I understand that joining a university rowing program also requires a strong academic portfolio. As a student-athlete, I am committed to maintaining a rigorous academic schedule while constantly growing as an athlete. In regards to my freshman year, I am one of the few students in my school who took an AP class as a freshman, I also took honors for all of my other classes. As a sophomore, I took AP US History, AP Literature and IB Biology, the most academically challenging classes my school offers and my junior year I am taking AP Psychology, IB History HL, IB English HL, and IB Spanish IV; because of this, I am confident in my ability to balance the demands of rowing with my studies. Along with my academic achievements I have also been an outstanding member of many clubs and other extracurriculars, such as DECA, Model UN, Best Buddies, and student council. In these clubs I have brought my school and myself countless awards, such as getting first place at our state conference for DECA, despite being only a freshman at the time. In addition to this, I have been the Class of 2026 Vice President at my school for three years now, reflecting how my peers have the utmost faith in my abilities as a strong and compassionate leader.
