I first started rowing in the spring of my Freshman year. Ever since my first practice, I have pushed myself to be better every day. Even though my season was canceled last year, I continued training and I have now been part of a rowing club since September. In school, I am a very determined student. I am currently taking 4 AP courses as well as being a part of the Marist Early College Program which will allow me to graduate with 23 credits in computer science. I am currently in the top 10% of my class.
During my freshman season, I was a part of the Men's Novice Four. We placed 3rd in our first race together and then placed third at the State Tournament. At the end of the season, we placed 2nd at sectionals. My freshman year really made me fall in love with the sport of Crew. Being on the water makes me feel at peace, even though I am expending all of my energy. The early successes that we achieved as a boat really encouraged me to work even harder and set higher goals. I am looking forward to racing again soon.
Over the summer I got my first job and had to learn how to balance school along with working and attending practice. This helped me learn many time management skills that will definitely help me later in life, especially with college. My goal is to attend college and receive a degree in either aeronautical or mechanical engineering while still rowing at a collegiate level.
