After winning the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in the Freshman 8+ category for St. Joe's Prep in 2015, I felt on top of the world. Flashback to April 18th 2015. My team is ready for another race in Delaware at St. Andrew's school. Tragically our coach rushes up to us and breaks the news, one of my great friends had suddenly died due to sudden cardiac failure. His death made the school mourn for weeks but with Ryan being a star athlete, I thought I'd turn his passion for sports and sudden death into my motivation to row and train for him.
Now at the end of Sophomore year, the boat I am in has never gone to a medal race and not received a medal. Over the past two years, St. Joe's Prep crew has taught me the values of teamwork that I need to take rowing to the next level. I feel that I have the integrity and leadership abilities learned from rowing and non-rowing activities to be a solid recruit for your team!
