Currently, I am a rising senior in high school. I am excited to share I have recently been elected by my peers and coaches to be a senior level captain for my team.
I have been rowing since spring of my freshman year when I was in the novice/freshman 8 for my high school, LaSalle, in Philadelphia, PA as a starboard. For two summers, I have rowed at Princeton Mercer in Princeton, NJ for their summer club team where I gained experience rowing as a port, as well.
Sophomore year, I was placed in the Varsity 8 in the bow seat at LaSalle College High School. We won at the PA/City Championships and qualified for both US Rowing Nationals and SRAA. Following that, we took home third place at the Stotesbury Cup. We finished our successful season at SRAA Nationals where we made it to the Grand Final where we ultimately came in 5th.
Additionally, I rowed in the lightweight 4 during the season and went undefeated.
As a junior, I have been both the stroke and the bow seat in our Varsity 8. We auto qualified at Head of the Charles, and won at Ocean City Chase, and the Philadelphia Frostbite against high school and club teams from NJ, Maryland and DC. Finally, I raced in our Varsity 4 at Hidden River Chase where we secured first place.
Spring of Junior year, we raced in the weekly Horvat/Flick series where I went undefeated in the Varsity 8 for the season. We also attended Lake Lenape sprints where we took home first and traveled to Delaware to race teams from the DC area and Pittsburgh. There we took home the 2nd place spot. We entered Championship season where we took home the 2nd place medal finishing .3 behind first. That auto qualified us for both SRAA and US Rowing Nationals.
Summer of 2024, I trained daily with one of my teammates at a local lake in a pair. As we had never rowed small boats before, it was a lot of fun to learn to row. We competed in the Philadelphia Youth Regatta in July to see how far we had come, and we were excited to take 1st in our race.
As summer winds down, I am looking forward to working together with my high school teammates and coaches towards a successful senior season.
