My goal is to row competitively in college because I am passionate about the sport and absolutely love being on the water. When I was five years old, I used to row on my grandmother's old erg, dreaming of glory. Now that I row with a team, and all eight of us are working together to pull the boat through the water, it gives me a feeling of cooperation and accomplishment that I truly value. I've brought this feeling of teamwork to my volunteer efforts at the Bainbridge Island Fire Department's cadet program, where I'm training as a volunteer firefighter and learning first aid alongside my peers. In my free time, I enjoy creating computerized 3D models and scuba diving in Puget Sound. I haven't decided yet what type of academic career to pursue, but I would love to bring my interests together in technology and marine life. Rowing is a means to practice excellence and teamwork while exploring my future interests, and I'm truly excited about an opportunity to participate in this thrilling sport at the collegiate level.
