Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Gavin Li, I am a Class of 2027 Redmond High School student and a competitive rower for the Sammamish Rowing Association. I started rowing in July of 2022 and really started to enjoy the sport, realizing that it was a sport that would reward me and improve my life as long as I was consistent with the work I put in. I am looking to take my rowing career to the next level in college and continuing the progress high school me made to and elite level. I am constantly seeking out pain and hard work as I know it will make an impact come the next race or erg test. This mentality of always working harder, and valuing results more than pain can stop me makes me a great candidate for your program. Since joining the crew team, I have seen that I am valuing hard work and discipline towards my goals more than I ever have because I know they will shape me to be a better and more impactful human being.
