I started playing soccer at the age of 4, and have an immense passion for the game. Since playing club at the age of 8, I have been fascinated watching how technically superior professional players are on tv, and Love supporting my favorite teams Arsenal, and Barcelona. I find their team work, and implementation of playing styles particularly interesting.
I have faced adversity like many young players, and have been reminded to focus by 'keeping my head down' and continuing to work hard - always striving to become better. For myself, not always being selected to first teams earlier in my soccer career, and other obstacle's, has also helped me to improve my character, strength, mentality, and perseverance.
I have learned to get outside my comfort zone, and challenge myself even more as a result of all of these things. Playing as a 17 year old alongside English academy players from Chesterfield FC - competing against older and highly rated U-19 academies, and college teams on a trip to Florida through the StarBridge Soccer Tour. Additional on field work, speed and agility, and strength and conditioning sessions - have further helped me to improve as a player while completing my last club season for for SC Del Sol E64 recently.
I have learned not only to play through the normal bumps and bruises afforded soccer/football players throughout these years of soccer, but how to come back from a 'not so normal' fractured skull training my sophomore year in high school. Missing a whole year after breaking into the starting lineup as a freshman was not easy, but the time off helped me to continue to learn, grow, and improve my mentality and desire to become even better through an otherwise difficult period.
I feel absolutely blessed to know that I have learned more about myself these past 14 years - not only as a player, but as a person as well. Graduating this past year as captain of our team, with a best ever school single season record, and being named as all conference 1st team high school player - I am now moving onto my next stepping stone. I have decided to take a gap year abroad to continue honing my soccer IQ, skills, and overall game, and will use this site to keep my progress updated, and to continue future dialog with each of you.
God Bless,
Gordie Kiser
