Andrew Joyner '26 Recruiting Profile

Soccer history:

During the 2024-25 season, I am playing for Barca Residency Academy USA's U19 EA team. To date, we have won both tournaments that we entered (2024 Arsenal Challenge Tournament and 2024 Desert Super Cup).

For the previous two seasons (2022-23 & 2023-24), I was Captain of my club team at Phoenix Rising FC. We played in the NPL Champions division, finishing second in the league. As a center-midfielder, I had the team’s highest combined total of goals + assists.

I competed on the Arizona ODP Championship Roster for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. To top it off, I received an invite to (and attended) the 2024 West ODP Regional ID camp in Utah.

During the 2022-23 season, I played for a newly created E64 team with Phoenix Rising FC.

During the summer of 2022, I was offered a position with Barcelona Residency Academy USA’s EA team with a partial scholarship (I received this offer after attending a week-long summer training camp).

In 2022, I was the MVP in our team’s Silverlakes Summer Showcase tournament when the referees voted me “game changer”.   

Previously, during a single Max Shacknai tournament (Phoenix, AZ), I received "man of the match" pins in 3 of 4 games (and earned another pin again in 2023). 

Training:

I have completed years of endurance running and fitness training. In fact, during my annual base phase of training, I peak at 10 mile long runs with hard surges. This translates to always having the best endurance on the pitch. I currently have the strongest endurance run at Barca. Additionally at Barca, I ran a 4.85 in the 40 yard dash.

Previously as a freshman in 2022, my YoYo Intermittent score was 21 (the only year that I have done this test). My best timed mile (recorded solo in the summer of 2023) is 4:56. Further, 7 years of jujitsu training has led to a well developed core and overall strength. As an aside, the last time I bothered to count (~2022), my juggling record was 2500 juggles.

Academic:

As a junior, I am enrolled in Honors classes in Computer Programming Studies (3rd Year), English, and Chemistry. Additionally, I am enrolled in AP courses in Spanish and Calculus AB. In March 2024, I passed the Java Industry Exam (IT Specialist- Java), receiving a certification in the Java programming language! (In February, I will take the Python Industry Exam.) I also participate in Dual Enrollment for several of my classes, receiving high school and college credits simultaneously.

For my entire academic career, I have received straight A’s (never had a B!). From third grade to present-day, I achieved “gifted” student status. This continued through middle school, where I participated in the Gifted And Talented Education (GATE) program. In middle school I was also a member of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). In 2024 I joined the National Honor Society (NHS). I also regularly attend youth group at my local church.
