Personal Statement

My goal is to achieve excellence both academically and athletically, consistently aiming, shooting, and scoring at my targets. Soccer stands out as my primary passion, evident in my extensive 7-page sports resume.

Beyond the playing field, I have aspirations of a career in Business & Marketing-Global Sports Management, while maintaining an active role as a referee. By the age of 13, I officiated 118 games as a small-sided referee, resulting in the prestigious "2022 Referee of the Year" award from Coquitlam Metro Ford Soccer Club. I soon transitioned to their Referee Mentoring team, helping newcomers at the grassroots level. Progressing to manage entry-level full-field games, my ambition has me focused towards acquiring Performance, National, and ultimately FIFA-level licenses. Currently, my officiating tally stands at an impressive 141 games.

On the field, my objective is to be a consistent starter, contributing significantly to championship victories. My versatility in playing with both feet and across various positions is highlighted by Surrey FC's consecutive Provincial Premier Cup victories in 2022 and 2023. In the 2022 Provincial triumphs, I earned the distinguished title of "Game Changer." In 2023, my coach provided a glowing endorsement, stating, “Roman is a proper soccer player, and lives off the game. He’s got the tools to have a very successful career.” Possessing composure under pressure, my teammates consistently rely on me for crucial penalty and free-kick situations.

My dedication to continuous improvement remains consistent. Committed to both personal and team objectives, I am a dependable, precise, and highly coachable player. Overcoming the challenge of being the shorter player on the team, I transformed this into an advantage by engaging in rigorous training against physically stronger opponents from a young age. This experience has honed my decision-making skills and elevated my soccer intelligence, enabling me to read the field more effectively.

Creativity and intelligence are my style, both on and off the field. I envision myself as an ideal fit for your academic and player rosters, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to learn from your esteemed professors, coaches, and fellow teammates.
